Hello everyone, please read for important dates and times for upcoming events! Lafarge Quarry Tour Last call to sign up for a tour of Lafarge Concrete Plant's Quarry! The planned tour is to see the testing lab, how asphalt is made, stockpiles, stone crushing, transportation of products, and a blast. This is an extremely rare and worthwhile opportunity everyone should consider attending! Sign up ASAP!!!

Kiewit is a leading company in the construction industry specializing in large design-build projects. They are hosting an informational meeting to discuss internship and job opportunities for next summer. ASCE students have been successful in the past with obtaining experiences from Kiewit. Pizza and wings will also be provided! NFTA Metro Rail Expansion Public Meeting Tomorrow, September 24th from 5-7pm at Sweethome Middle School there will be a meeting regarding the NFTA Metro Rail Expansion. The Metro Rail Expansion Project will hold a public workshop on September 24th from 5-7pm at Sweet Home Middle School to present the concept design plans, updated station design concepts, recap of traffic analysis results, and preliminary environmental analysis and impacts. General Body Meeting Next week, on Thursday, October 3rd at 6:00 pm in 101 Baldy Hall, we will be holding a General Body Meeting. This meeting will feature representatives from Bergmann Associates who will be speaking on Water Resources engineering, as well as opportunities at Bergmann and career path guidance. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable insight from a professional in the civil engineering field from a well-known firm in the area so be sure to attend! Engineer Alley Tailgate Next Saturday, October 5th from 12:30-3pm UB SEAS will be hosting an Engineer Alley tailgate before the UB Bulls football game against the Ohio Bobcats! Join ASCE, UB Engineering and Applied Sciences Alumni Association & the WNY professional engineering community on the lawn in front of Bissell Hall. Event includes ticket, food, drinks, giveaways, lawn games, student-alumni networking and more under our tailgate tents! Engineering club with the most student attendees win a prize! Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper Hey everyone, signups are currently available for Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper for Saturday, October 19th. For people who didn't do it last year, Waterkeeper is an organization that cleans up Buffalo's waterways. After the event they hold a volunteer appreciation party at the Labatt House that is free for volunteers. It's a great time and a great way to give back to the community. If interested, you can sign up directly at the link below. First come first serve so be sure to sign up before spots fill up, deadline is September 30th!

Please join us as Civil engineering seniors and grad students take on CSEE freshman, sophomore and juniors, and Environmental seniors and Environmental graduate students for bragging rights in this year’s matchup! We are still looking for a coach for the civil engineering team, so please be sure to fill out the RSVP form at the bottom of this message to receive updates! Concrete Canoe There will be a team meeting on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 pm in Jarvis 223. Be on the lookout for emails from the team leads sub-team meetings throughout the week!

Steel Bridge

This Wednesday, September 25th, we will be having Junior Position Elections. The elections will take place at 6:00 pm in Jarvis 117. Be sure to stop by as these positions are important for helping develop the future of the Steel Bridge team!

Seismic Design

Wednesday, September 25th, there will be a SAP2000 tutorial. Tentatively, this will take place from 4:00 - 5:00 pm in 208 Ketter Hall. Stop by to learn how to use an important software used in structural analysis!
