03/03/19 Weekly Update
General Body Meeting
Our next General Body Meeting will a joint meeting with the professional section on Tuesday 3/12 at 5:30pm at Banchetti's. This will be a great opportunity to network with professionals and as them questions. The dress is business casual and dinner will be provided. We will be carpooling there if you need ride. Please fill out the link by Wednesday 3/6 if you plan to attend so we can get a headcount for dinner. We will have an optional meeting about internships and job opportunities on Monday, 3/11 at 5:00pm in Jarvis 223. Larry Matthews from ABCD will be coming in to talk about opportunities he can help students get. Larry is and alumni of UB and a huge supporter of our club and has been able to get internships for many student in the past so if you are looking for one it is highly recommending you attend. (See below for 2 current internship/job opportunities)
Elections
Election nominations are open here. You can nominate yourself or someone else for one or more positions. Elections will be 3/26 at 6:30 in NSC 222. If you have any questions about any of the positions you can reach out to any current E-board member to get contact info for the person who golds the position or check our website. It is important to attend this meeting so we meet quorum.

Steel Bridge
There is a lot of fabrication work to be done to finish up the bridge in time for competition. We will need lots of help. Stop by the lab any time you are free. Fabrication Schedule: M - 9:00am-5pm T - 9:00am-5pm W - 9:00am-5pm Th - 9:00am-5pm F - 9:00am-5pm

Internship/Employment Opportunity
McMahon & Mann are looking for a full time 2019 graduate interested in geotechnical engineering, as well as a geotechnical intern for this summer. They are located in Buffalo, NY. Kubit Engineering, PLLC is actively seeking Construction Inspectors to work on projects throughout the Western, NY area (Buffalo & Rochester). Candidates will be responsible for inspection and reporting of various field construction activities. The individual will have knowledge of the technical aspects of construction; ability to read specifications and engineering drawings; adherence to associated policies and procedures; and providing the necessary documentation of inspections performed including quantity measurements and computations, daily reports and all other duties associated with inspection. The candidate must possess and maintain at least one of the following: NICET Level II, III, or IV Certification, E.I.T. or PE. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. A minimum of 6 months of experience in field inspection activities is desired; Site Manager or APPIA experience a plus.
Habitat for Humanity
We will once again be participating in habitat for humanity this semester. There are 2 more opportunities to help out, the next one is on April 6th. If you are interested in helping, please sign up using the link.
Relay for Life
We will be participating in the Relay for Life as a club. The event will take place on April 12th. Everyone should join the team and donate if possible. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. The link will take you to our teams page.
