Weekly update 02/17/19

General Body Meeting

There will be an Election Info Meeting Monday 2/25 at 6:00 in Jarvis 223.This is an extra meeting for only those interested in running for a position this March. Conor will go over the roles for each position and the election process, as well as some tips for running. It is highly encouraged to attend if you plan on running for a position, but not required. Our next General Body Meeting will be Tuesday 2/26 at 6:30pm in NSC 222.

E-Week

Engineers week is this week! Throughout the week there are various events that all the engineering clubs host. There are still spots open for some events. The events run for 2 hours, but they typically do not take that long so you can show up anytime in the 2 hour block. SIGN UP! We will also need people to volunteer to help out with the 2 events we are running this year. The first is popsicle stick bridges on Monday, 2/18 from 10am-noon. The second will be helping construct the battlebot maze on Thursday, 2/14 starting at 5pm. We will be working on this until it is finished and should only take a few hours. SIGN UP!

Design Teams

Concrete Canoe

Look out for email from the PM or leads about prep for the final pour on February 23th at 8am.

Steel Bridge

There is a lot of fabrication work to be done to finish up the bridge in time for competition. We will need lots of help. Stop by the lab any time you are free. We will be holding a build practice with last year's bridge tomorrow from 5-7in the lab. No experience is needed. This will be an opportunity for you to practice the methods we use to build. If you want to build this year it is encouraged you try to attend for part of the time. Fabrication Schedule: M - 9:30am-5pm T - 9:30am-5pm W - 9"30am-5pm Th - 9:30am-5pm F - 9:30am-5pm

Seismic Design

Seismic will be practicing their presentation for competition on Tuesday at 4:30pm in Ketter 140. They are looking for some people to show up to watch and give advice.

Bridging the Gap Africa

No events this week.

Habitat for Humanity

We will once again be participating in habitat for humanity this semester. There are 3 more opportunities to help out. If you are interested in helping, please sign up using the link.

Relay for Life

We will be participating in the Relay for Life as a club. The event will take place on April 12th. Everyone should join the team and donate if possible. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. The link will take you to our teams page.

Scholarships

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has various scholarships for students posted on their website. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2019. Click the link below for more info.
